Beating The Odds 2,750.9 Miles Away From Home
If you have followed our story since the beginning, then you know how Black Box Safety began. A story you may not be familiar with, however, is how our sales team came to be.
During an intense nationwide search for two inside sales reps to join our team, Black Box Safety recruited two individuals not only on the other side of the country, but also childhood best friends of our VP of sales, Griffin Forsyth.
Enter our sales force; Griffin Forsyth (Vice President of Sales), Carly Casella (Sales Associate), and Parker Marshall (Sales Associate).
Griffin and Parker both attended Norfolk Academy where they graduated from in 2015. Morgan Wentz, who also attended the academy, interviewed Griffin and Parker for a special feature in the Academy Newsletter, which highlights Griffin and Parker's backgrounds and roles on our team.
During an interview with Wentz, Parker shares his experiences of moving across the country to join the team: “I came out to San Diego from Norfolk last spring to join Griffin. Black Box Safety Inc. is a small company of 6 employees, half of which are from the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area, and Griffin and I are both Norfolk Academy graduates, so there’s a sense of home all the way in San Diego.” Parker and Griffin attended The University of Virginia together as well. Griffin studied Economics while Parker Studied History and Business Analytics at the UVA McIntire School of Commerce. Carly graduated in 2015 with a Major in Public Health and a Minor in Business from The University of South Carolina. Although she did not attend Norfolk Academy or UVA with Griffin and Parker, she did grow up with them in Virginia Beach before heading out of state for college.
Now 6 years later, Carly and Parker have joined Griffin at Black Box Safety as our sales reps.
When asked by Wentz to describe his role as VP of Sales, Griffin explains that his job is primarily to "work closely with our sales team to build relationships with clients." He shares that "Our primary customers are government and federal agencies, so it is important to maintain close relationships in order to be successful. We sell tactical equipment, janitorial equipment, medical equipment, hospital equipment, and much more."
Parker was also asked to share a synopsis of his role as a sales rep. He states that "As a small company, we all collaboratively work together to achieve our goals. We continue to maintain and build relationships with our clients, while also working closely with manufacturers to determine the best product to fulfill our customer’s needs. We help companies and organizations build systems and select certain safety products to protect their employees and avoid problems."
Against all odds and 2,750.9 miles away from home, these three best friends are crushing it against the "bigs" and we are so glad to have them as part of our team.
