SkillBridge Provider Black Box Safety

Black Box Safety, a San Diego-based government contracting company focused on responding to government contract opportunities, has recently partnered with the Department of Defense by becoming a SkillBridge provider. The DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for military service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during their last few months in the military.

Military members planning on separating must complete initial counseling from their command’s HR representative or career counselor, attend all necessary courses and workshops, and receive approval from their Commanding Officer. Depending on the branch of service, there are other requirements that must be met to be eligible. A SkillBridge internship can begin 180 days before separation. More detailed information about the program and its requirements can be found on the DoD SkillBridge website.

Jackson Dalton, a Marine Corps Veteran, founded Black Box Safety after being medically retired. Knowing how difficult the transition can be, Jackson immediately sought to become a SkillBridge provider once eligible, allowing service members to prepare for employment in the private sector.

Service members who participate in a SkillBridge internship with Black Box Safety will be a part of a highly motivated team, working with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing on behalf of the company, interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times, obtaining tracking information, resolving contract disputes, and educating prospective customers on how different products can benefit them financially and professionally. Participants will continue to receive their full pay, allowances, and benefits.

Upon completion of the program, Black Box Safety will provide the participant with a professional reference, resume review and critique, interview skill development, and the potential for future employment should the candidate wish to continue with Black Box Safety.
